Deese Campaign Posts Robust January Campaign Finance Filing, Effectively Raising More Than $100,000
Buffalo, NY – In the first campaign finance filing of 2026, the campaign of Kevin Deese, Democratic candidate for New York State’s 149th Assembly District, announced that it submitted its January periodic filing with $19,421 raised and $23,698.79 on hand. Factoring in more than $81,000 in matching funds from in-district donations received to date, Deese’s campaign had effectively raised more than $100,000.
“Kevin is running to put more money in people’s pockets and more courage in our politics. The generosity shown by his friends and neighbors is a reflection of the genuine grassroots support for his candidacy,” treasurer Jack Lohan said. “Kevin’s commitment to service, perseverance through adversity, and vision of pragmatic, progressive, and proactive leadership has clearly started to break through in all parts of the 149th District, from Lake View to Riverside, and he is immensely grateful for the support of his community.”
The 149th Assembly District currently includes four candidates. Based on January’s filings, Deese’s campaign had over $10,000 more cash on hand than the next closest campaign. The campaign also reported the highest in-district amount raised ($8,733). Based on their filings, no other campaign appeared to have reached six figures raised after accounting for matching funds.
The strong January filing places Deese, a first-time candidate, firmly at the head of the pack. It shows that his candidacy has found resonance throughout the district and underscores the fact that he will be well-resourced to run a vigorous campaign for the Democratic nomination for the 149th Assembly District.
